The Braddock Park Athletic Complex project consisted of the construction of a brand new 20-acre community park with two multi-purpose fields, two softball fields, 130 parking space accommodations, a 1,600 SF covered playscape area, a 650 SF maintenance building, a 1,200 SF concession building with kitchen and restroom facilities, and all associated utilities and site improvements.
The entire team overcame significant project cost increases that almost halted the project initially. During the St. John’s Water District review and approval process, changes to the design of the retention pond system (by St. Johns) significantly increased the project’s cost. The proven relationship with the Director of Capital Projects and the city of Winter Garden, and Clancy & Theys provided practical value engineering alternatives, which were later unanimously accepted by the city to pay for the adjusted project cost increases. This situation exemplifies Clancy & Theys’ business values and working as a partner in our communities.
