Clancy & Theys Construction Company provided general contracting for Valencia College East Campus, Criminal Justice Institute. The project required creating a permanent educational facility to replace the 13 portable units from which the College offered its criminal justice training program. A detailed site utilization plan, in collaboration with administration and faculty, was integral to the success of this project on the active campus.
The project comprises 74,300 SF of administration, a laboratory, a physical fitness facility, a teaching auditorium, and café space. The building’s primary structural system is steel frame construction. The exterior cladding is a mixture of metal panels, curtainwalls, and architectural precast concrete panels.
The second floor, consisting of 21,700 SF, was designed to consolidate the College’s HR Department’s offices from various campuses. This facility was also the first building completed on a new campus.
