Hampton Virginia Aquaplex

Overview

Despite the challenges of building during a pandemic, the Hampton, Virginia Aquaplex design-build team delivered an exceptional facility that is now Virginia’s largest competitive aquatic facility and one of the largest in the mid-Atlantic region. The 62,739 SF aquatics center includes a 50-meter competitive pool with 1,500 spectator seats, a whirlpool, a state-of-the-art timing system, a 20’ scoreboard, a 25-yard program pool, multiple amenity spaces, and a seasonal outdoor splash park area with a leisure pool, a lazy river, and two tower body slides. This design-build project transformed an existing blighted site in the Coliseum Central District of Hampton, VA, into a flexible facility that can host a variety of aquatic events, including local, regional, and national swimming and diving competitions, while also meeting the local community’s aquatic programming needs.
