Independence Elementary School

Overview

Independence Elementary School is a SchenkelShultz prototype, two-story, 82,000 SF building with administrative offices, classrooms, 832 student stations, art and music suites, a kitchen, multi-purpose rooms, and dining areas. The site work included new bus loops, playground, sports areas, and parking.

The building structure includes conventional spread footing foundations, loading-bearing tilt-wall panels, and a structural steel frame. The building envelope comprises textured coated tilt-wall panels, a storefront, aluminum-framed windows, a curtain wall, and a single-ply roof membrane over lightweight insulating concrete.
