Onslow County Senior Services Center Renovation

Overview

Clancy & Theys Construction Company is providing construction services for renovating the Onslow County Senior Services Center in Jacksonville, NC. This project involves the partial demolition and renovation of the existing 38,325 SF, single-story facility, enhancing its functionality and modernizing its infrastructure.

The scope includes a new building envelope, a new canopy at the front entrance, partial roof deck replacement, load-bearing walls, roof framing, structural modifications, interior partitions, ceilings, and finishes. Additionally, the project upgrades essential systems, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, communications, fire alarm, and fire protection. Sitework includes rerouting some underground utilities, installing new storm drainage, saw-cutting and patching pavement and sidewalks, and adding a pump station outside.

To accommodate construction, Senior Services temporarily relocated its operations. Once completed, the renovated facility will feature a variety of new spaces, including a kitchen, pantry, congregate dining areas, offices, adult day rooms, storage rooms, laundry, fitness and activity rooms, classrooms, training and conference rooms, flex space, a computer lab, and other support areas. A portion of the building will also house office spaces.

Onslow County Senior Services is dedicated to supporting older adults through programs that promote independence, self-determination, and overall well-being. The department provides a wide range of services, including supervised adult care, social activities, educational classes, and group fitness programs, all aimed at enhancing the lives of seniors in the community. This renovation will help strengthen its mission by creating a modern, welcoming space that better serves the needs of Onslow County’s population.
