We are honored to announce that Chad Cowger is our new Virginia Division Manager and Vice President.
Chad Cowger has been with Clancy & Theys since 2004. His longstanding commitment to the firm, combined with his demonstrated history of success and expertise, make him the ideal candidate for this role. His knowledge of the construction industry is second to none, and his contributions to the firm cannot be overstated.
A Dedicated Leader in the Virginia Area
Chad began his career with Clancy & Theys as an assistant project manager. A graduate of Old Dominion University and a United States Army Veteran, Chad is a highly skilled leader.
He has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, and has a wide variety of skills. At Old Dominion University, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology.
While in college, Chad enlisted in the U.S. Army. He completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training in Fort Sill, OK in six months. After graduating from university, his unit was activated for Homeland Security for 14 months. He was honorably discharged in May 2004 and is proud to have served in the U.S. Army. There, he was able to hone a unique set of leadership skills that he continues to use today at Clancy & Theys.
A Highly Skilled Project Executive
During the 20 years Chad has been with Clancy & Theys, he’s risen through the ranks in project management.
Chad has been involved with some of the firm’s most logistically challenging projects. Internally and externally, he’s known as Clancy & Theys’ expert in managing large, industrial projects.

- Monticello Station Apartments in Norfolk, VA
- Wells Fargo Center Office Tower in Norfolk, VA
- Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, VA
- Dollar Tree Office Tower in Chesapeake, VA
- Dollar Tree Distribution Centers across ten different locations
For more than a decade, Chad has led our Dollar Tree Distribution Center projects across the country, totaling millions of square feet. He excels at managing all aspects of a construction project and is committed to building meaningful relationships with those he works with. As a result of Chad’s relationship with Dollar Tree, he turned the account into one of Clancy & Theys’ biggest.
He’s built genuine, lasting relationships with all of his clients as well as his colleagues. Chad is the epitome of The Clancy Way.
A Reputation For Doing Good
Chad has built a network of invaluable connections throughout Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Associated General Contractors of Virginia, an association of members advocating, growing, and connecting Virginia’s construction industry.
During his time at Clancy & Theys, Chad has proven himself an essential part of the team and a driving force for Clancy & Theys’ future in the area. We are excited to see how Chad will continue to shape and grow the company in his new position.
